MWWA EDUCATION SEMINAR 

WATER STORAGE TANK INSPECTIONS AND MAINTENANCE 

Course ID # MWWA 14-004

Water storage tanks are one of the most valuable assets of the water distribution system.  Adequate storage capacity, security issues, ice damage and degradation of water quality are just some of the many challenges of proper operation and maintenance of water storage tanks. This half day class will provide students with an understanding of the important aspects of tank inspections and maintenance.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review AWWA and state standards/guidelines regarding tank design and maintenance.
  • Understand what is meant by “Asset Management” of storage tanks.
  • Learn how to properly and safely perform tank inspections.
  • Discuss a tank maintenance program from a local water utility.

This course is approved for 3.0 TCHs (Training Contact Hours) for both Massachusetts and Rhode Island Water Operators.
