 CYBERSECURITY

Do you really know what it means for your Utility?

 (MWWA Course ID#: MWWA 21-003, Wastewater: BC-2021-3620)

Most people have a general understanding of cybersecurity and have heard terms like ‘ransomware’, ‘data breach’, and ‘phishing’.   But what are the specific threats to all water utilities – both large and small?  This training will provide a unique opportunity to hear from several local and national experts in the cybersecurity field.  Attendees will hear about real world examples of utilities fallen prey to cybersecurity and the havoc that has resulted.  Valuable insight about the simple steps all utilities can take and the resources available will be provided.  This training is not just for managers and IT staff, but for anyone that uses SCADA, remote equipment operation, computers, tablets, and smartphones as part of their normal workday.

 Learning Objectives:

Learn what cybersecurity is and what the risks are for utilities
Review real world examples of cybersecurity breaches that have disrupted utility operations.
Discuss planning strategies and resources available

This course is approved for 2 TCHs (Training Contact Hours) for Massachusetts water  & Wastewater Operators. It will be taught using the Zoom platform.  Participants will need to have a reliable highspeed internet connection and computer device with both video and audio capability.  Please review our Student Expectations for Attending Virtual Training at  www.masswaterworks.org/education.
