Did you know that 67% of all deaths related to confined spaces occur when attem pting a rescue? And in nearly all of those cases there was no written plan or adequate equipment. Both water and wastewater employees commonly enter a variety of confined spaces: valve & meter vaults, manholes, tanks and trenches. It is important that utility workers understand the hazards of co nfined spaces and what procedures should be followed to stay safe.
Th is half day class will provide attendees with an overview of what constitut es a confined space as well as the proper equipment and procedures that mus t be followed. It will also provide an overview of the resources available to help utilities prepare written plans and checklists.
