Confined Space Safety & Chemical Handling Safety

(Course ID: MWWA 23-007 / MA Wastewater: BC-2023-3781)

The Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) estimates that the number of injuries/fatalities in the water and wastewater industry is approximately 4.1 per 100 workers. Two hazards that are commonly encountered are entering a confined space and handling dangerous chemicals. This full day training will provide important information on how to recognize the dangers of both hazards, and what measures should be taken to ensure a safe environment for all workers.

 Learning Objectives:

•• Review the OSHA standards for confined spaces and chemical handling;
•• Learn the risks associated with confined spaces and chemical handling and what precautions employees should take and the equipment that is needed;
•• Discuss the common hazards and best strategies that water and wastewater operators should use when entering confined spaces and handling treatment chemicals.

 This course is approved for 6 TCHs (Training Contact Hours) for Massachusetts Water AND Wastewater Operators. Live in-person class!

ATTENDANCE & TCH POLICY: Full payment must be received, and attendees must attend 90% of the program and complete an evaluation form to receive TCHs. NO SHOWS OR CANCELLATIONS WITH LESS THAN 7 DAYS NOTICE WILL BE CHARGED A $130 CANCELLATION FEE. 
TCH certificates will be issued only when full payment is received.
