More Than Just Flow Control

(MWWA Course ID: MWWA 21-020, Wastewater: BC-2021-3620)

Automatic Control Valves (ACVs) are used throughout potable water systems from the source of supply, into the storage tanks/systems, and throughout the distribution system. ACV’s can help prevent surge and water hammer issues, control pressure, flow, and tank level, or a combination of multiple functions. They may also be integrated with the SCADA system to operate and monitor remotely while helping to “balance” the system. New applications and functions are developed regularly for and with ACVs to help systems operate effectively, efficiently, and safely for uninterrupted water service.

 Learning Objectives:

 Learn about the types of ACVs and how they operate.;
 Discuss proper installation and maintenance of ACVs;
 Explore how new ACV technology can help optimize distribution system operations;

 This course is approved for 2 TCHs (Training Contact Hours) for Massachusetts Water and Wastewater Operators, as well as Rhode Island Water Operators.
It will be taught using the Zoom platform.  Participants will need to have a reliable highspeed internet connection and computer device with both video and audio capability.
Please review our Student Expectations for Attending Virtual Training at  www.masswaterworks.org/education.
