The Art and Science of Pipe Locating and Leak Detection

Locating water mains and finding leaks can be time consuming, expensive and sometimes dangerous.  Those well-versed in this skill agree that being good is as much of an art as it is a science.  Understanding all of the various types of equipment and their limitations is an important first step in becoming proficient at this critical task that many water operators must perform. 

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand the theory of pipe locating and leak detection.
  • To become familiar with the various types of pipe locating and leak detection equipment currently on the market.
  • To learn the advantages and limitations of the various types of equipment.
  • To discuss the tips and techniques necessary to become a better pipe and leak locator.

Attendees completing this seminar will be awarded 3.0 TCHs (Training Contact Hours).
