Hydrant Flushing

 

 

 

System Flushing and Hydrant Flow Testing

With Hands-On Activity

(MWWA Course ID: MWWA 95-008)

Routine distribution system flushing and hydrant flow tests are critical components of a distribution system operation and maintenance program. While flushing (done to improve/address water quality issues) and flow testing (done to determine the hydraulic integrity) have different goals, they are often done simultaneously in the field. This class includes both a classroom component as well hands-on component. Attendees will conduct a flushing and flow testing field exercise that will include performing the related hydraulic calculations.

 Learning Objectives:

•• Review the importance of system flushing and hydraulic conditions;
•• Understand flushing procedures, data collection and data analysis;
•• Practice hydraulic flushing and data collection.

 This course is approved for 3 TCHs (Training Contact Hours) for Massachusetts Water and Wastewater Operators, as well as Rhode Island Water Operators. Live in-person class!

ATTENDANCE & TCH POLICY: Participants must attend 90% of the program and complete an assessment and a session evaluation form to be eligible for TCHs. TCHs will be issued only if full payment has been received. 
TCH certificates will be issued only when full payment is received.
