VALVES, VALVES, AND MORE VALVES...(MWWA Course ID: MWWA 21-011, Wastewater ID: BC-2021-3620) A water system operator will encounter a wide range of valves in performing their day-to-day tasks: gate valves, butterfly valves, altitude valves, air relief valves, pressure control valves, pump control valves and many more. Learning how they work, and their proper application will help an operator understand how to use them and make sure they are correctly installed and maintained. This half day remote class (Zoom) will review everything a water operator will need to know about the most common valves used in a water system. It is a must for all new operators – both distribution and treatment. It will also serve as a valuable refresher for experienced operators.
Learning Objectives: •• Learn about the different types of valves, the applications and how they operate;•• Discuss the important considerations with regards to installation, operation, and maintenance; •• Review the new technologies in valve operation and monitoring. This course is approved for 2 TCHs (Training Contact Hours) for Massachusetts Water and Wastewater Operators, as well as Rhode Island Water Operators.
It will be taught using the Zoom platform. Participants will need to have a reliable highspeed internet connection and computer device with both video and audio capability.
