DI Pipe Installation: Two Topics... One Training.

What is better… an old-fashioned thrust block or wedge action retainer glands? Do you know what pipe supports are a ‘no no’, and whether to pull a pipe through a casing or push it through?

This class will cover these two important ductile iron pipe installation topics in one half day class. The first half of the morning will provide an overview of the forces trying to pull apart a pipe joint and what the best methods are for ensuring the joint integrity. The second half of the morning will cover the common types of aerial span installations, the options available and the dos and don’ts to be aware of. There will also be a discussion on the best methods of handling pipe casings.

 Learning Objectives:

Explain the longitudinal forces acting on pipe;
 Review the methods of ensure a good pipe joint;
Discuss the methods of installing aerial spans and pipe casings and the common pitfalls to avoid.

 This course is approved for 2 TCHs (Training Contact Hours) for Massachusetts Water and Wastewater Operators, as well as Rhode Island Water Operators.
It will be taught using the Zoom platform.  Participants will need to have a reliable highspeed internet connection and computer device with both video and audio capability.
